The paintings on exhibit at Provisions are from two separate series, Tangerines Moving and Mazes & Labyrinths, created over a 12 year span.
These are whimsical portraits of fruits and flowers surrounded by textiles arranged in waves and folds or maze-like structures. By carefully juxtaposing and superposing patterns, I aim to convey the idea that space is never truly empty, and that beneath every layer is yet another teeming with design and movement.
I returned to painting in 1990 after spending many years as a professional dancer.  My dance career left me with a lasting interest in pattern and spatial design.
