The Northampton Arts Council is a city board and a non-profit organization whose goal is to support and promote the arts in Northampton. Originally created as a Local Arts Lottery Council, it began its work by administering a grants program in which proceeds from a state lottery are distributed to local artists, arts groups, and public schools.

Midnight to Midnight Slideshow Northampton's self-portrait in 48 hours

Midnight to Midnight Slideshow Northampton's self-portrait in 48 hours

Arts Night Out, Friday October 10, 5-8 PM in the Coolidge Museum at Forbes Library

On May 2 and 3, 2014, the community was invited to photograph Northampton, Florence and Leeds during a 48 hour period. For this first ever "selfie" of the city, more than one hundred amateur and professional photographers submitted almost 1000 photos of people, places and events.  The collection will act as a “digital archive” for Northampton’s history.  Historic Northampton, in collaboration with the Northampton Camera Club and Forbes Library, oversaw the call for photos that have the chance to become part of the city's historical record.

This will be the last of three digital slide shows and will feature 300 of the 1,000 images submitted to "Midnight to Midnight".

Free; all ages; refreshments.
