The Northampton Arts Council works to support and nurture the arts in the city of Northampton. The Council awards grants twice each year to artists and arts groups from both state and locally-raised funds, and seeks to improve public awareness of the arts. Its' goals include maintaining and preserving the rich and diverse cultural heritage of Northampton, programming such annual events of interest to the community as First Night Northampton and Transperformance.

Do you have a new digital camera? Are you confused by all the dials .and buttons? Here's an opportunity to learn how to use your camera and have fun! Each session will explore a different camera control and how to use it. We’ll also receive tips on how to better capture images of birds and other critters, fall foliage, flowers, landscapes, waterfalls, and more. Composition, exposure, and cropping will be a main theme throughout all class sessions.

Are you interested in wildlife and finding out ways to discover what is around you? Do you own a trail camera and want to know how to use it? If you answered yes to either of these questions this workshop is for you! 
We will be discussing how trail cameras work and how to set them up, what they are used for, how they can aide scientific research and how ‘you' can help conserve native wildlife across Massachusetts. 
We will also be traveling the world exploring trail camera studies in Afghanistan, looking at Snow Leopards and Persian Leopards, and in Costa Rica looking at Jaguars.
Part of the workshop will be outdoors - please bring appropriate clothing and footwear and a packed lunch. Older children are welcome if accompanied by an adult.

Using graphite pencils, technical pens, and watercolors, learn how to create botanical illustrations of plants, trees, and flowers. We will begin with instruction in line and tonal drawing before moving on to various watercolor techniques. Subjects will be selected from the plant life that thrives at Arcadia. We will learn to identify and illustrate important key features, such as leaf, tree, and flower type. Color studies, exercises and composition will be practiced throughout the course.
