DOIEB SI TAU, language for a requiem is a study on loss and transformation. A lone performer pushes language and character to their breaking point, crafting a ritual of willful separation. This work is a mourning of what is lost in the moment of becoming. Applying his on going investigation of invented language and song, the solo explores the human voice as a medium uniquely able to recount the life of the body.

Balduzzi will offer a workshop to theater dance and voice students on SUNDAY OCTOBER 1, 2-5 PM at STUDIO4.

Balduzzi moved to NYC in 2008 from Milan, Italy and began working in collaboration with Ben Spatz, founder and artistic director of Urban Research Theater. Other recent collaborations include Arturo Vidich’s Bodyisland and142241 (Abrons Arts Center), Helga Davis’Cassandra (Park Avenue Armory, BRIC), Daria Fain and Robert Kocik’s E.V.E.R.Y.O.N.E, Vibe and Brooklyn Rezound and Bessie award winning,Vanessa Anspaugh’s The end of men. Balduzzi works as an independent performer and teacher, touring his solo performance research, DOIEB SI TAU, language for a requiem, in NYC at NYLA, CPR, Judson Church, Rubin Museum, CAVE, in Philadelphia at FringeArts, and in Los Angeles at Pieter. In February 2016 DOIEB SI TAU, language for a requiem premiered in Italy and England. Balduzzi leads master classes and workshops in NYC at LINCOLN CENTER Educational Project, CUNY Brooklyn College, CUNY College of Staten Island, PARK AVENUE ARMORY, at Swarthmore College and University of the Arts (Philadelphia), at Emerson College (Boston) and University of Huddersfield (England).
