Serious Play's Perspectives Through Performance

Serious Play's PERSPECTIVES THROUGH PERFORMANCE initiative, debuting this Fall, offers new work from "across the pond."

OCT 21, 22 & 23 (8pm) at A.P.E.Gallery, Serious Play presents a staged reading of British playwright Caryl Churchill's LOVE & INFORMATION, with Natalie Djondo, Kermit Dunkelberg, Lisa Enzer, Nanette Mendieta, David Regan, Patrick Ryan, and Linda Tardif, directed by Sheryl Stoodley.

DIRECT FROM THE EDINBURGH FRINGE, Mairi Campbell and PULSE, her inspiring original theatre-music piece, DEC 1 and 2 (8pm) SHEA THEATER, Turners Falls. We connected with Mairi last summer at the Fringe Festival in Scotland when we presented JohnSheldon's THE RED GUITAR to 5-star reviews. Now we are bringing this talented Edinburgh actress and her viola to the Valley to perform her story and to collaborate with John Sheldon towards developing a new theatre work.

We are collaborating with poet Martín Espada, and performing artists from NYC and Boston, on the MARTÍN ESPADA PROJECT for a Fall 2018 premiere. We are interweaving Martín's fierce and compelling poetry, which speaks truth to the powerless, giving a dehumanized community a human face, with movement, monologue and music sequences, creating a new devised production that moves audiences toward empathy and solidarity in today's troubled America.

We have engaged the expertise of Rainmaker Consulting to strengthen our financial and organizational base, looking to become more sustainable in these increasingly restrictive and challenging times. We have again created a long term list of creative theatre projects including becoming presenters of international ensemble productions and artist exchanges, with a focus on the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
