STUDIO4, the vibrant performance space and arts center located in the heart of Northampton, is proud to announce the third season of HUT—the interdisciplinary performance series co- curated by SCDT Director Jennifer Polins, sound artist Jake Meginsky, and writer Chelsea Hogue. As part of STUDIO4’s new season packed with performance art, HUT showcases three artists in three short sets, in an evening of music, dance, and poetry. HUT has so far presented a wide range of internationally recognized contemporary artists including Bill Nace, Jason Lesceleet, Andrea Pensado, Paul Matteson, Jennifer Nugent, Matt Krefting, Vic Rawlings, Laura Warman, and Chris Corsano, among many others.

The series resumes with HUT XI on SATURDAY, OCTOBER 7 at 8PM, and features acclaimed violinist SAMARA LUBELSKI, contemporary novelist and essayist CAROLE MASO, and nationally recognized dance-maker DANTE BROWN.

Violinist SAMARA LUBELSKI has been in numerous bands, including Of a Mesh, Metabolismus, Salmon Skin, The Sonora Pine, Hall of Fame, The Tower Recordings, MV & EE With The Bummer Road, and Chelsea Light Moving. Since 2003 she has released seven solo studio albums. Lubelski is a prolific guest musician, performing on dozens of recordings by artists such as The Fiery Furnaces, White Magic, Thurston Moore, God Is My Co-Pilot, Jackie-O Motherfucker and Sightings.

CAROLE MASO is an American novelist and essayist, known for her experimental, poetic, and fragmentary narratives. She received a B.A. in English from Vassar College and is recipient of a Lannan Literary and NEA fellowship, and several other grants. Her best known novel is probably Defiance (1998). Maso is a professor of literary arts at Brown University, where she has taught since 1995. She has held positions as a writer-in-residence at Illinois State and George Washington universities. A forthcoming novel, The Bay of Angels, incorporates various narrative types—essay, memoir, prose poems, and even graphics—and represents nearly fifteen years of work.

DANTE BROWN began his dance training at Wesleyan University, where Katja Kolcio, Pedro Alejandro, Nicole Stanton, and Susan Lourie whetted his creative appetite. From that point, his interest in performance and choreography led him to Ohio State University to pursue his MFA in Choreography & Performance. Dante has worked with artists such as Esther Baker-Tarpaga, Adam Barruch, Christal Brown, Leslie Guyton, Lily Skove, Olivier Tarpaga, and Noa Zuk. Since founding Dante Brown|Warehouse Dance in 2010, Dante has shown work at Wexner Center for the Arts, Columbus Dance Theater, Movement Research, and YourMove Dance Festival
