The Northampton Arts Council is a city board and a non-profit organization whose goal is to support and promote the arts in Northampton. Originally created as a Local Arts Lottery Council, it began its work by administering a grants program in which proceeds from a state lottery are distributed to local artists, arts groups, and public schools.

About the Festival and 2018 Guest Artist Programs:
The Lyra Music Festival is an outstanding series of summer classical
music events based in Northampton, MA. Each July Lyra Music brings
together world class musicians, outstanding young string players and
pianists and an exceptional faculty of professional musicians and
educators for concerts, masterclasses and outreach performances.

NICHOLAS TZAVARAS, cellist with the Shanghai Quartet: "Richly singing"
and "beautifully nuanced" (New York Times), performing with RIEKO
AIZAWA,pianist with the Horszowski Trio. "Impressive musicality, a
crisp touch and expressive phrasing" (New York Times).

A concert of chamber music with the FACULTY ARTISTS of the Lyra Music
