The Northampton Arts Council is an organization whose goal is to support and promote the arts in Northampton. Originally created as a Local Arts Lottery Council, it began its work by administering a grants program in which proceeds from a state lottery are distributed to local artists, arts groups, and public schools.

WHAT: Northampton Jazz Workshop Featuring saxophonist Stephen Riley with the Green Street Trio
WHEN: Tuesday, October 22nd from 7:30 to 8:30 followed by the open jazz jam session.
WHERE: City Sports Grille at Spare Time Northampton, 525 Pleasant St., Northampton, MA

We are really looking forward to playing again with NYC saxophonist Stephen Riley. He is a very special player with his own style and a sound somewhat reminiscent of the great Stan Getz. Making it extra special for the trio is we will also be playing in Hartford the night before at Black Eyed Sally's so we will be warmed up and ready to go for you. Here's an excerpt from his bio:

Stephen Riley has been and is currently a featured artist at "Jazz at Lincoln Center's" concert series. Performances include. Blues in the Bucket with (Nicholas Payton, Cyrus chestnut, Ray Drummond, Victor Lewis, Harry Sweets Edison, Al grey.) Boudoir Tenors (Frank Wess, Lew Tebackin, Wayne Escoffery, Stephen Riley) Performances with Harry Sweets Edison and Clark Terry at "The Jazz Showcase" in Chicago. Marcus Roberts (Romance , Swing and the blues) concerts at Lincoln center. Marcus Roberts. "Deep in the Shed" (performances at Lincoln center) Marcus Roberts The music of Earl Hines and Bud Powell (Lincoln center concert series). Etc etc........
