Paul Lieberman’s IBEJI project Almost one year in the making, Paul Lieberman’s IBEJI project, co-produced and co-arranged by pianist Joel A. Martin, will be performed at Northampton’s Iron Horse Music Hall this Tuesday, May 10, at 7 PM. Joining Joel & Paul in the performance will be two of the greatest Brazilian musicians in America--Nilson Matta on bass and Duduka da Fonseca on drums, and a surprise guest. Originally titled “(Separated) Twins” the project looks at Brazilian music and American Jazz as twin children of Mother Africa, separated at birth, sent off to grow up in distant parts of the world, and now reunited. Familiar and not so familiar songs get surprising treatments, and powerful originals round out the project. What resulted is fresh, interesting, and very listenable music that makes it hard to sit still. This CD Release party is a night not to be missed! Tickets are available at the Northampton Box Office online, and at the door. This program is supported in part by a grant from the Northampton Arts Council.
