Silver Chord Bowl

Traditionally, the first Sunday in February is a time to celebrate collegiate a cappella in the sold-out 2,000-seat JMG Hall at Smith College. Each year the Silver Chord Bowl offers a showcase of a capella groups from around the Northeast. This year Berklee College Pitch Slapped, Brown University Jabberwocks, Dartmouth Aires, Smith College Notables, Trinity College Quirks, UMass Amherst Doo Wop Shop, and University of Pennsylvania Discord, and Northampton High's Northamptones will be performing.

Berklee Pitch Slapped has risen to national notoriety after performing on NBC's The Sing Off in 2010 and being crowned the 2011 International Collegiate A Capella Champions at Lincoln Center in New York City. 

Members: Tracy Robertson, Derek Jayson, Max Deneau, Sam Fischer, Ethan Thompson, Mark Joseph, Dustin Hyatt, Hannah Juliano, Samantha Schultz, Jennifer Waris, Brooke Stephenson, Megan Porter, Ingrid Andress, Nadia Sosnoski

Brown Jabberwocks is Brown's oldest a capella group and has been performing at Brown and around the world for sixty years.

Dartmouth Aires is Dartmouth's oldest a capella group and has been performing original arrangements with the dedication and high-energy performance that led them to becoming one of the nation's most recognized a capella groups.

Smith Notables has been shaking things up from the start and was Smith's first group to use vocal percussion (beatboxing) and to perform songs by a male artist.

Trinity College Quirks is a premeire all female a capella group that has opened for folk singer Lucy Kaplansky at Infinity Music Hall and was recently featured on the website of UK magazine New Music Express.

Members: Courtney Duffy, Katie-Lou Ingraham, Zoe Nageotte, Caroline Robinson, Amanda Sweat, Perin Adams, Annick Bickson, Caitlin Crombleholme, Margaret Nolan, Rachel Burke, Georgia McAdams, Nicole Muto-Graves, Nykia Tanniehill

UMass Doo Wop Shop began in 1993 when one of the founding members got a few of his singing friends together to serenade his crush; she was thrilled and the group was born.

Members: Alec Hutson, Jake Brownell, Justin Husted, Alex Mercer, Eric Meyer, Geoff Herrmann, Tim Colby, Ian McCracken, Ron Vorce, Joe Gallant

University of Pennsylvania Dischord is a co-ed a capella group that dabbles in anything from Finnish a capella to jazz and hip-hop, but mostly performs rock and pop songs.
