Valley Art Share Launches Micro-Grants for Artist-Etceteras

Pioneer Valley, Western Mass — This summer Valley Art Share is launching a series of micro-grants for artist-etceteras as a means to build a grassroots sustainable infrastructure for creative projects. Valley Art Share will source funds from its member-base and the community-at-large in small monthly installments that will contribute to a collective fund. This collective fund will be redistributed back to Valley Art Share members through a proposal process and a member-based voting system. ...

BIG INK features the large woodcuts of Lyell Castonguay, Chris Millette, Eben Kling, and Ali Osborn. Castonguay invited three friends to interpret how scale changes the context of an image. Their combined effort has produced over 10 works, which range in size from 2' x 4' to 3' x 6'. This exhibit incorporates a variety of aesthetics; including the misfit characters of Kling and the mythical visions created by Millette among others. BIG INK will be exhibited in the Northampton Center for the Arts' East Gallery, which is open 11am-4pm Tuesday thru Friday. An artist reception will be held Arts Night Out Friday, September 14th from 5-8pm....

Through a grant provided by the Northampton Arts Council, equipment and technical support from Zea Mays Printmaking, and organizational and logistic support from C3, Now.For.Art is proud to announce the first Northampton Steam Roller Printmaking Workshop to take place May 15th 2010, at a TBD location in downtown Northampton. We are currently accepting proposals for participation in the workshop. This workshop provides the opportunity to create wood block relief prints up to 4’ x 8’. A limited number of slots are available and proposals will be juried. We will accept proposals from individuals as well as “groups” working collaboratively on one block/print. We have approximately 18-20 slots for printmaking available for the day....
