The Northampton Arts Council works to support and nurture the arts in the city of Northampton. The Council awards grants twice each year to artists and arts groups from both state and locally-raised funds, and seeks to improve public awareness of the arts. Its' goals include maintaining and preserving the rich and diverse cultural heritage of Northampton, programming such annual events of interest to the community as First Night Northampton and Transperformance.

port.man.teau has and always will be an independently published journal that pushes the boundaries of literature. From newer to established writers, poets and artists, port.man.teau encompasses a collection of varied styles of work.

An event  funded by the Northampton Arts Council, port.man.teau Live! will showcase writers from the Pioneer Valley as they read aloud from our newest issue, port.man.teau volume III.  This installment, also made possible by the Northampton Arts Council was assembled by hand and printed in part at Flying Object in Hadley, MA.
