The Northampton Arts Council works to support and nurture the arts in the city of Northampton. The Council awards grants twice each year to artists and arts groups from both state and locally-raised funds, and seeks to improve public awareness of the arts. Its' goals include maintaining and preserving the rich and diverse cultural heritage of Northampton, programming such annual events of interest to the community as First Night Northampton and Transperformance.

Public Invited to Open House and Art Market at 33 Hawley Street

Northampton, MA—Arts Night Out and the Northampton Community Arts Trust host a festive Open House and Art Market on Friday evening, December 13, 5-8 pm at 33 Hawley Street. The market continues on Saturday, December 14, 10 am-3 pm.

The public is invited to browse and buy work displayed by 50 participating artists while viewing the building, currently in transition from fitness center to affordable creative space for the community.

All sales are cash and carry, with 10 percent of the proceeds donated to the Northampton Community Arts Trust. The informal Friday evening event features light refreshments, a wine bar, and the bluegrass sounds of Acoustic Brew.
