Northampton Mayor’s Youth Commission Nears BenchWalk Event
Youth Commission Continues Outreach for Donations and Artists
NORTHAMPTON, Massachusetts -- (May 14th, 2015) -- With the BenchWalk 2015 unveiling event a month away, the Northampton Mayor’s Youth Commission is continuing their efforts to meet their fundraising goals and reach out to more artists.
Several Northampton groups have donated to BenchWalk with Smith College, Hotel Northampton, and Northampton Community Television leading the way by donating $1,000 each. Other donors include Goggins Real Estate, GoBerry, Smith College Museum of Art, and Thornes Marketplace. Foster Farrar has also generously donated almost all of the materials needed to paint the benches.
The Youth Commission is still seeking more businesses to donate and help support BenchWalk so they can meet their fundraising goals. The Youth Commission encourages all businesses and organizations to help support BenchWalk by visiting https://unipaygold.unibank.com/Default.aspx?customerid=1311 to donate.
To increase participation in BenchWalk and provide more artists with the opportunity to send in their applications, the deadline for artist submissions has been extended to Friday, May 22nd. The Youth Commission has already received applications from notable local artists and hopes to hear from more artists in the coming week. To submit an application, visit http://northamptonma.gov/1572/Artists.
The BenchWalk unveiling will be on Friday, June 12th at 5:00PM and will coincide with Northampton’s Arts Night Out. Benches will be painted on May 30th, weather permitting.
