The Northampton Arts Council works to support and nurture the arts in the city of Northampton. The Council awards grants twice each year to artists and arts groups from both state and locally-raised funds, and seeks to improve public awareness of the arts. Its' goals include maintaining and preserving the rich and diverse cultural heritage of Northampton, programming such annual events of interest to the community as First Night Northampton and Transperformance.

The photographer:
KATE WAY was a writing, literature, and arts educator for twenty years, before devoting her full-time energy to photography and film. She holds a M.F.A. in Photography and an Ed.D. in Language, Literacy, and Culture, and has exhibited her work in New England and New York City. Kate is now making her first documentary film, Good Guy with a Gun: The Arming of Teachers in America.  More


The August 7th reading, book signing, photo show, and reception is free, open to the public, and accessible. It is co-sponsored by Perugia Press, a nonprofit literary press publishing the best new women poets in the country, and A.P.E. Gallery, our favorite downtown art gallery supporting contemporary artists working in all disciplines.
