The Northampton Arts Council works to support and nurture the arts in the city of Northampton. The Council awards grants twice each year to artists and arts groups from both state and locally-raised funds, and seeks to improve public awareness of the arts. Its' goals include maintaining and preserving the rich and diverse cultural heritage of Northampton, programming such annual events of interest to the community as First Night Northampton and Transperformance.

Northampton Chalk Art Festival Call for Artists

NORTHAMPTON CHALK ART FESTIVAL INVITES ARTISTS TO APPLY!

The Northampton Center for the Arts is seeking artists to join in the 7th annual Northampton Chalk Art Festival on Friday, September 9, 2016. Participation requires the completion of a simple application form by Friday, August 5. Details are at www.nohoarts.org.

The festival is scheduled from 10 am until 8 pm and is part of Northampton’s monthly Arts Night Out. Artists will be invited to work from 10 am until 4 pm, rendering drawings in chalk on 5’x5’ cement canvases located throughout downtown Northampton. All who participate receive a $100 stipend. In addition, cash prices of $300, $200 and $100 will be awarded by a panel of judges for the top three creations.

This event is sponsored by the Northampton Radio Group and Chartpak Inc. It is produced in cooperation with the City of Northampton, the Northampton Center for the Arts, and Arts Night Out.
