The Northampton Arts Council works to support and nurture the arts in the city of Northampton. The Council awards grants twice each year to artists and arts groups from both state and locally-raised funds, and seeks to improve public awareness of the arts. Its' goals include maintaining and preserving the rich and diverse cultural heritage of Northampton, programming such annual events of interest to the community as First Night Northampton and Transperformance.

6x6 Final Project
Sue Huang's Golden Structure

Golden Structure explores the creation and evolution of forts within the space of A.P.E.  The artist, Sue Huang will use the textile of gold lamé to build the forts and rooms and invites the community to join her in this exploration as she reconstructs the tented structures of her childhood. The textile used to build the structure has been selected for its sheen and gilded surface, which evoke the precious, dreamlike experience of the reconstruction of memory as well as the artist’s own memories of gold interior decor from her childhood in the Middle East.
