The Northampton Arts Council works to support and nurture the arts in the city of Northampton. The Council awards grants twice each year to artists and arts groups from both state and locally-raised funds, and seeks to improve public awareness of the arts. Its' goals include maintaining and preserving the rich and diverse cultural heritage of Northampton, programming such annual events of interest to the community as First Night Northampton and Transperformance.

Arcadia Wildlife Sanctuary: Suzette Alsop Jones


Suzette Alsop Jones will be displaying her art work at Arcadia Wildlife Sanctuary, in the Nature Ctr. during the month of Sept. Arcadia is located at 127 Combs Rd., Easthampton. This event is Free. The Arcadia Nature Ctr. is open 6-7 days a week.

“For me, painting is about trying to capture the energy of living things, whether it’s the movement in afternoon clouds coming up over mountains, the miraculous opening of a lily bud or the way a bird angles its wings to ride the wind. That underlying flow of energy is what I feel and look for when I lay out a composition.”
