The Northampton Arts Council works to support and nurture the arts in the city of Northampton. The Council awards grants twice each year to artists and arts groups from both state and locally-raised funds, and seeks to improve public awareness of the arts. Its' goals include maintaining and preserving the rich and diverse cultural heritage of Northampton, programming such annual events of interest to the community as First Night Northampton and Transperformance.

David Kassan is a contemporary American painter best known for his life size representational paintings, which combine his subjects with abstract backgrounds. This instructional class is set up in two parts:

David will begin by leading a drawing demonstration with a live model while explaining his process from start to finish. Workshop attendees then draw a live portrait with David’s input and personalized guidance. Artists have a unique opportunity to learn directly from this master realist who has taught students all over the world. Class is available for beginners and advanced artists.
