The Northampton Arts Council works to support and nurture the arts in the city of Northampton. The Council awards grants twice each year to artists and arts groups from both state and locally-raised funds, and seeks to improve public awareness of the arts. Its' goals include maintaining and preserving the rich and diverse cultural heritage of Northampton, programming such annual events of interest to the community as First Night Northampton and Transperformance.

Forbes Library Open on Saturdays this Summer




Forbes Library will remain open on Saturdays in July and August for the first time in 10 years. These restored hours, 9 AM to 5 PM, will improve access to the library over the summer, and are made possible by stabilized city funding and savings in other areas. In a community survey conducted last year, increased hours were cited as a top priority. “We are so pleased to bring Saturdays back. The community depends on the library in all seasons,” said Lisa Downing, Library Director.
