The Northampton Arts Council works to support and nurture the arts in the city of Northampton. The Council awards grants twice each year to artists and arts groups from both state and locally-raised funds, and seeks to improve public awareness of the arts. Its' goals include maintaining and preserving the rich and diverse cultural heritage of Northampton, programming such annual events of interest to the community as First Night Northampton and Transperformance.

Arena Civic Theatre is pleased to present the Tony Award winning best musical, ANNIE, as its Fall production. Under the Direction of Megan Healey, Music Direction of Anthony Ferreira, Choreography by Sue Dresser and Costumes by Maggie Duprey, this popular children’s musical based on the Harold Gray comic strip Little Orphan Annie, runs September 20th through 23rd with evening performances Thursday through Saturday at 7pm and matinees on Saturday and Sunday at 2pm.

After premiering at the Goodspeed Opera House in 1976, Annie became an instant family classic. Depicting real-life situations of the Great Depression, Annie is the story of a lovable little red-haired orphan who outsmarts her greedy orphanage matron, Miss Hannigan, and wins an invitation to stay at billionaire business mogul, Oliver Warbucks’ mansion for Christmas.
Including all the hits you know and love; “Tomorrow,” “Hard Knock Life,” “Fully Dressed” – ANNIE is the premier fall musical event!
