The Northampton Arts Council works to support and nurture the arts in the city of Northampton. The Council awards grants twice each year to artists and arts groups from both state and locally-raised funds, and seeks to improve public awareness of the arts. Its' goals include maintaining and preserving the rich and diverse cultural heritage of Northampton, programming such annual events of interest to the community as First Night Northampton and Transperformance.

Learn about the Bay State Hotel, its importance to the local music scene, the family tree of a select group of bands and artists who started out there; followed by a performance of songs written about the Bay State over the years.

The members of Rub Wrongways Records, an independent record label from Northampton, are embarking on a musical odyssey in 2018 as the Forbes Library Musicians in Residence. The label’s Jason Mazzotta and Henning Ohlenbusch, two well-known staples of the area’s music scene, are curating a series of six performances and workshops related to the life of an active musician.

All Musician in Residence events are free and open to all ages.

Funded by the Friends of Forbes and community donations.
