The Northampton Arts Council works to support and nurture the arts in the city of Northampton. The Council awards grants twice each year to artists and arts groups from both state and locally-raised funds, and seeks to improve public awareness of the arts. Its' goals include maintaining and preserving the rich and diverse cultural heritage of Northampton, programming such annual events of interest to the community as First Night Northampton and Transperformance.

WHAT: Northampton Jazz Workshop features saxophonist clarinetist Marty Ehrlich
WHEN: Tuesday, November 13th, 7:30 to 8:30PM followed by an open jazz jam session until 10:30 PM
WHERE: The City Sports Grille at Spare Time Northampton, 525 Pleasant St., Northampton

After 4 yeas of trying, we were finally able to find a date that worked for the wonderfully creative and immensely talented saxophone, clarinet and flutist Marty Ehrlich. Marty lives in NYC and teaches Tuesdays at Hampshire College and is always busy with his other musical projects, most recently his duo with pianist Myra Melford, and a trio with Mark Dresser on bass and Andrew Cyrille on drums so we are really looking forward to making music with him. He will be bringing his Jazz History class to the club so we hope to give them and you all an earful something special. If the jam session is anything like last week, please consider staying around for some of that as well.  Always a lot of surprises happen when things loosen up and
