Amanda Maciuba’s work is concerned with the landscapes, communities, development practices and environmental concerns prevalent throughout the United States. By reacting directly to the landscapes and environments she is living in at the time, her work examines, celebrates, and critiques place. Flyover contains a selection of prints and artist’s books created in the last five years, inspired by her time living in three different states in the Midwest and her most recent home in Western Massachusetts.
A native of the Buffalo, NY area, Amanda Maciuba graduated from the University at Buffalo with a degree in Visual Studies. She has a MFA in printmaking and a Certificate of Book Arts from the University of Iowa. She shows her work regularly throughout the United States and has participated in artist residencies at the Iowa Lakeside Laboratory, the Tallgrass Prairie National Preserve, Fire Island National Seashore and the Lawrence Arts Center, in Lawrence, Kansas. Currently, she teaches printmaking, drawing and book arts at Mount Holyoke College.
Colleen Keough: Electric Feminine Cosmic Hybrid: Infinite Desire
Colleen Keough is a Trans-Disciplinary Hybrid Media artist working in lens and time-based media, performance, installation, creative writing, and digital art. Her integrated media works explore feminist new media themes through the intersection of pop culture, identity, myth and
technology. The "Electric Feminine Cosmic Hybrid" series is created from digital print cut outs, which are then collaged into large scale site-specific compositions. The work explores relationships between desire, excess, embodiment, spirituality, electronic media and nature, and speaks to the elasticity of feminine sexuality, imagination and consciousness.
Keough’s work has exhibited nationally and internationally in museums, galleries, and festivals in Europe, China, and the US. Artist residencies include: Cite' Internationale Des Arts, Paris, France, Experimental Television Center, Owego, NY, Signal Culture, Owego, NY and the Institute for Electronic Arts, Alfred, NY. She completed undergraduate studies at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, MA, & DePaul University in Chicago, IL, and earned an MFA in Electronic Integrated Arts from NYSCC Alfred University in New York. She is currently a full-time Lecturer in the Department of Art at UMASS Amherst.
