The Northampton Arts Council works to support and nurture the arts in the city of Northampton. The Council awards grants twice each year to artists and arts groups from both state and locally-raised funds, and seeks to improve public awareness of the arts. Its' goals include maintaining and preserving the rich and diverse cultural heritage of Northampton, programming such annual events of interest to the community as First Night Northampton and Transperformance.

Community & Creativity: The Arts in Northampton

WHAT: Community & Creativity: The Arts in Northampton // Film Screening of Vision of Thornes

A second film screening of Vision of Thornes will be held Monday, January 21, 2019 due to popular demand.

Take a closer look at Northampton's arts scene -from the 1970s on into the future.
The event features a film screening of Vision of Thornes, a 13-minute documentary about Gordon Thornes' philosophy about the arts and his experience in Northampton. Speakers will include Andrea Olsen, Laurie Sanders and Elizabeth Sharpe.

Following the screening, audience members will be invited to share their thoughts about the role of creativity in shaping community and the relationship between business and the arts. Then, for those who are interested, Richard Wagner will offer a behind-the-scenes tour of the new Northampton Community Arts Trust building.

Suggested donation: $5-10 at the door. Light refreshments.
