About Academy of Music Youth Programming:

The Academy of Music offers fun and engaging programs in musical theater for children ages 6 to 16. During the summer, they provide sessions of musical theater workshops that focus on acting, singing and dancing for the stage. These workshops are directed by outstanding and supportive professionals with notable accomplishments who provide participants with opportunities for artistic exploration, self-expression, education and teamwork by exposing them to all aspects of musical theater. A Broadway-style musical revue performance is shared on the last day of workshops. During the months of January, February and March, the Academy runs rehearsals for its Academy Youth Production company that includes practicing production numbers, choreography and scene work, culminating in a fully staged musical theater performances on the historic AOM stage. Past Academy Youth Production performances include Willy Wonka Jr., Disney’s Camp Rock, The Phantom Tollbooth Jr., Fame Jr., Into the Woods Jr., and The Music Man Jr., Singin’ in the Rain, Jr., Annie, Jr., and 42nd Street. The Academy of Music plans to expand youth programs this year, offering classes during the Fall session for the first time. Classes will be held off-site at the Pine Box Studios at the Brushworks Building in Florence. Registration information will become available in the coming months.
