CALL TO ARTISTS – for Summer Outdoor Art Shows with the New Studio Art Group

The New Studio Art Group Northampton Weekend Summer Art Fair
The New Studio Art Group presents a summer series of outdoor art exhibitions downtown Northampton. The events feature a curated group of fine artists showcasing original works of art and fine art prints.

CALL TO ARTISTS: Visual fine artists of all backgrounds who work in mixed media, watercolor, oil, acrylics, print making are welcome. Artists are invited to submit work by filling out and following the submission application below. Please note that submissions will be accepted via email and that only accepted artists will be notified.

WHEN: First Show is planned for Saturday & Sunday July 20-21, 2019, 10 am to 6pm and ongoing every weekend through summer, weather permitting.

WHERE: EJ Gare Plaza behind Thornes Marketplace next to the Parking Garage, 99 Armory Street, downtown Northampton.

STATEMENT OF INTENT: During the summer there are an array of pop-up art shows promoted throughout various outdoor venues for visual artists all over the United States. While those shows can be very productive for selling art, they remain logistically complicated, sometimes requiring extensive travel; and are capital intensive, costing upwards to many thousands of dollars towards generating a pre-planned exhibition schedule.

Our intention is to provide a series of weekend outdoor art shows for a curated group of local artists in the downtown area of Northampton through the summer to facilitate a local, ongoing marketplace and a cultural attraction for the local and outlying community.

A modest fee of $150.00 per weekend is required for the organization and promotion towards the success of these outdoor events.

IN ORDER TO EXHIBIT: Artist must exhibit their own work and be personally present during the event. Exhibitors are required to provide a 10′ x 10′ canopy. Walls or A-frames and a table covered with tablecloth. Artists are required to maintain a neat and well-organized exhibition within the 10′ x10′ space permitted, all storage must be hidden out of sight (for example under tablecloth). Under no circumstances leave behind debris, garbage trash.

APPLICATIONS are reviewed on a first-come first-served basis. Only accepted artists will be notified to participate. Deadline for email submission followed by mailed check is Wednesday July 10, 2019
