Seeking Mentor Artists for Youth Performance Festival

WHAT: Youth Performance Festival Seeks Mentor Artists
WHERE: Northampton Center for the Arts, 33 Hawley St. Northampton, MA
WHEN: Information Session for any interested mentor artists Wed Oct 9th from 5-6pm
Youth Performance Festival: Winter 2019-2020 (dates below)

The inaugural Youth Performance Festival (YPF) will showcase the work of young artists (8-18 yrs old) in the disciplines of theater, dance, music, poetry, and video. Young artists will be paired with mentor artists in their field, and over the course of 6 weekends, the mentor artists will help to guide the young artists in the creation of original work to be shared with the greater community. We are so fortunate in the Valley to have such a rich community of artists and this festival is the perfect opportunity to connect artists of all ages and disciplines and create an arts celebration for the whole community.

WE NEED MENTOR ARTISTS! We’re especially interested in artists who would feel comfortable mentoring in more than one discipline (i.e. theater & dance, music & poetry, etc) as we won’t know the exact composition of the youth participants until December. All mentor artists will be paid a stipend of $100 and will be expected to attend at least 4 out of the 6 Open Rehearsal Saturdays (1-4pm: 12.14, 1.4, 1.11, 1.18, 1.25, 2.1) plus an Orientation Session on Sunday Dec 8th, 1:30-4pm, Tech Rehearsals on Feb 6th or 7th and the performances on Saturday Feb 8th and Sunday Feb 9th.

We’ll be holding an Information Session for any interested mentor artists on Wed Oct 9th from 5-6pm at NCFA. Please pass this info along to other artists in your circles who you think may be interested, and if you’re not able to make the info session but want to hear more about it, I’m happy to meet in person or talk over the phone.

Participation in the festival is free for all youth participants. If transportation is a challenge, we are planning on having volunteers help to carpool. If you’re not able to be a mentor, but you’re interested in volunteering your services in another way, please let me know.

Are you interested in being a mentor artist? Attend our information session on October 9, or email Sarah Marcus at sarah@valleyperformanceplayground.com.
