The Northampton Arts Council works to support and nurture the arts in the city of Northampton. The Council awards grants twice each year to artists and arts groups from both state and locally-raised funds, and seeks to improve public awareness of the arts. Its' goals include maintaining and preserving the rich and diverse cultural heritage of Northampton, programming such annual events of interest to the community as First Night Northampton and Transperformance.

SKATE OR PAINT 2019: Live Mural Painting, Skate Competition & Live Music
Presented by Northampton Arts Council and Theory Skateshop. SKATE OR PAINT is a free public event to gather the community, reinvigorate the space and organize for future projects at the Northampton Skatepark and in the local skating community. The event will include skate competitions hosted by Theory Skateshop, mural painting and live performance from local skater/musicians Jesus Vio, Mibble and DANE X SOPIRA.

Local artists will paint a mural on two sides of the field house at Veterans field, adjacent to the Skate Park. The Mural Artists include Ryan Muldoon, Tyler Chaney, Mark Tousignant, Ben Licata and Eric Talbot.

Opened in 2007, The Northampton SkatePark is a community gathering space and athletic facility where sports, art, style, passion and fun collide. The skate park project was initially spearheaded by a community group of skateboarders and skateboard moms who formed a group called Skate Park in Northampton, or SPIN, in 2001 and raised almost $70,000
