The Northampton Arts Council works to support and nurture the arts in the city of Northampton. The Council awards grants twice each year to artists and arts groups from both state and locally-raised funds, and seeks to improve public awareness of the arts. Its' goals include maintaining and preserving the rich and diverse cultural heritage of Northampton, programming such annual events of interest to the community as First Night Northampton and Transperformance.

Northampton Jazz Workshop News & Updates

First of all, the weather seems to be cooperating with us Tuesday so we are looking forward to playing at the City Sports Grille with the wonderful guitarist Steve Cardenas starting at 7:30. Also, there are so many things musical going on this week that I thought I should share just a few of them; some tough choices to make:

- Wednesday, 11/13. Valley Jazz Network Listening Party with MELISSA ALDANA 7:30 pm. The Parlor Room, 32 Masonic Street, Northampton, MA moderated by Felipe Salles, Associate Professor of Jazz Studies, UMass Amherst. RSVP ASAP if interested. Email yvonne@umass.edu or call 413.545.4161.

- Thursday, Nov. 14 Melissa Aldana will perform with her band at 7:30 pm in Bowker Auditorium at UMass. For tickets visit www.fineartscenter.com/aldana

- Thursday, November 14, at 7:30 at the Shea Theatre in Turners Falls will be another showing of the film Horn From the Heart: The Paul Butterfield Story, hosted by Tom Reney. It sold out quickly last month at Amherst Cinema so to get tickets in advance go to www.Sheatheater.org

- Friday, November 15th: Marion Groves sings with The Colby's - Bev Rohlehr and John Colby at Collegian Court in Chicopee from 7-10PM. 89 Park St, Chicopee, MA 01013

- Saturday November 16, 2019 @ 7:30 pm The Vermont Jazz Center presents SOF√ćA REI & JC MAILLARD $22 in Advance / $25 at the Door vtjazz.org
