Northampton Jazz Workshop tribute to Dizzy Gillespie Featuring trumpeter Cicci Santucci and saxophonist Sarah Hanahan

WHAT: Northampton Jazz Workshop Featuring trumpeter Cicci Santucci, saxophonist Sarah Hanahan and the Green Street Trio in a tribute to Dizzy Gillespie
WHEN:Tuesday, January 14th from 7:30 to 8:30 followed by the open jazz jam session.
WHERE: City Sports Grille at Spare Time Northampton, 525 Pleasant St., Northampton, MA.

In tribute to the great trumpeter Dizzy Gillespie, who passed 27 years ago, we are thrilled to present two of the keepers of the flame of his music. Trumpeter Cicci Santucci spent most of his lengthy career working as a composer, band leader and conductor based in the Rome, Italy area and is now a resident of Western Ma. He has many recordings under his own name and some with American artists as well. Joining Cicci is the wonderfully talented Sarah Hanahan. Sarah is an up-and-coming jazz saxophonist in New York City and is a recent graduate of the Jackie McLean Institute of Jazz within the Hartt School of Music (University of Hartford) and she cut her teeth on Dizzy's music as did Cicci.

Both Cicci and Sarah are occasional participants in our weekly jam sessions so we are especially happy to present them together as featured soloists. All the music will be Dizzy Gillespie compositions and arrangements.

The concert set starts at 7:30, followed immediately by the jam session until 10:30. $5 per person room charge for the concert set and donations to the band gratefully accepted. City Sports Grille at Spare Time Northampton, 525 Pleasant St., Northampton, MA. 413-584-4830
