Discussing Back from the Brink: The Call. The Growing Danger of Nuclear War and What We Can Do About It.”

Talk in brief: The danger of nuclear war is growing as relations between the US and Russia, China, North Korea and Iran deteriorate and relations between India and Pakistan approach open warfare. Despite this imminent existential threat to human civilization, the issue is largely ignored by media and world leaders. Ira Helfand will paint a picture of the current peril and Henry Rosenberg will talk about the history and past efforts to prevent nuclear war. They also will offer suggestions on steps we can take action now on the grassroots level. “As a nation we need to understand that nuclear weapons do not make us safe; rather they are the greatest threat to our security and they must be eliminated before they eliminate us,” notes Dr. Helfand.
