The fourth annual Northampton Public Arts Festival will be held Sunday, May 8th with invited artists Kim Carlino, Ramiro Davaro-Comas, and Grace Lang from Super-Stories.
Kim Carlino will be painting cement barriers on Strong Avenue that provides space for outdoor dining and events in the streets of the City. Kim will beautify the cement blocks with unique pattern designs. Kim will also be retouching her Cracker Barrell Alley pavement mural during the festival. Super-Stories, an arts education-focused organization, will be running a community public art workshop in EJ Gare Garage Plaza, right behind Thornes Marketplace. This “Super Messages” workshop will work with the community to paint positive messages in spray paint on some pre-built wooden walls that will become part of the Northampton landscape.
It is the fourth year for this unique event, which aims to promote public art through live mural painting and collaboration. The festival will bring local and nationally recognized artists together to create beautiful public art for the city of Northampton and the Pioneer Valley.
This project is made possible with support from the City of Northampton, Massachusetts Cultural Council, Northampton Arts Inc., and the Downtown Northampton Association.
