The Northampton Arts Council works to support and nurture the arts in the city of Northampton. The Council awards grants twice each year to artists and arts groups from both state and locally-raised funds, and seeks to improve public awareness of the arts. Its' goals include maintaining and preserving the rich and diverse cultural heritage of Northampton, programming such annual events of interest to the community as First Night Northampton and Transperformance.

FY23 Grant Opportunities from the Mass Cultural Council:


Cultural Sector Recovery Grants for Organizations - unrestricted grants ($5,000-$75,000) to Massachusetts cultural organizations, collectives, and businesses negatively impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Deadline: Sept. 28.

Cultural Sector Recovery Grants for Individuals - unrestricted $5,000 grants to creatives and gig workers to support recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic and set a path for growth. Info sessions October 6. Deadline: Nov. 1.

STARS Residencies - grants for residencies of 3 days or more with teaching artists, scientists, humanists, or cultural organizations. Opens: Sept. 28. Deadline: Oct. 25.

Cultural Facilities Fund - grants supporting the sound planning and development of cultural facilities. Opens: Oct. 13, 2022. Deadline: Feb. 2, 2023.

Gaming Mitigation - funding to performing art centers affected by casino gaming in Massachusetts. Opens: Oct. 19. Deadline: Dec. 8.

Festivals & Projects - $2,500 grants to support public programming efforts. Opens: Oct. 25. Deadline: Dec. 15.
