October 12 @ 6:00 pm - 8:30 pm EDT
Ladder 2 Leadership
Class participants for this workshop will gather at 6:00 PM at the Hub for a shared community dinner meal, which is free and open to all. Following the dinner meal, class participants will begin the workshop with Nikai. Ladder 2 Leadership addresses the elephant in the room: why are organizations still not able to find “qualified” diverse individuals to fill their upper-level positions? Whether people identify as millennials/Gen Zs, BIPOC, and/or LGBTQ+, somehow the glass ceiling has proven to exist across all oppressed identities. In this workshop, we will identify why the person who seems “unlikely” could be the best possible candidate for the job. This workshop will provide tips and tools on how to source, retain, and uplift key professionals. Let’s work together building workplace cultures that focus on mentorship, understanding, and upward mobility now and on into the future. Come for the community dinner meal at the Hub, and stay for this inspiring and helpful workshop. All welcome. Free

Class participants for this workshop will gather at 6:00 PM at the Hub for a shared community dinner meal, which is free and open to all. Following the dinner meal, class participants will begin the workshop with Amihan. Cultural humility, the life-long process of critical self-reflection to identify personal and systemic biases and address power imbalances, supports a significant shift in culture. Cultural humility invites and challenges people from the dominate culture to decenter their experience and work to understand and value the cultural context of marginalized communities. People from the dominant culture often do not recognize their own cultural norms and biases. This workshop will help to make what is invisible, visible so that it can be transformed. You cannot have racial equity without cultural humility. Cultural humility paves the way to racial equity. When we have a deeper awareness of a range of ways of being, perceiving, and communicating, we can more consciously choose how to communicate and interact. In this workshop, you will develop the awareness and tools to become more culturally responsive and to actively build bridges of understanding across cultures. Participate in this workshop to become better equipped to create cultures that are truly welcoming, inclusive, and equitable. Come for the community dinner meal at the Hub, and stay for this inspiring and helpful workshop. All welcome.
