What is Performance?

Each year in August, the Northampton Arts Council and the Parent Teacher Organizations of Northampton’s public school system join forces to raise funds for arts enrichment in the schools and our community. THE end-of-the-summer live tribute music fundraiser is held at Pines Theater in Look Park. Local musicians are asked to play cover songs from specific bands under an annual theme determined by the Northampton Arts Council. This is our 33rd year; The first-ever iteration was Woodstock: The Performance Peace, where local musicians covered bands and songs performed at Woodstock in 1969. The event was named Transperformance for many years, but the name was changed three years ago by a vote from the Northampton Arts Council in deference to the trans community.
