The Northampton Arts Council works to support and nurture the arts in the city of Northampton. The Council awards grants twice each year to artists and arts groups from both state and locally-raised funds, and seeks to improve public awareness of the arts. Its' goals include maintaining and preserving the rich and diverse cultural heritage of Northampton, programming such annual events of interest to the community as First Night Northampton and Transperformance.

HUT is an exciting and innovative interdisciplinary performance series that has been running for 14 seasons. It isco-curated by movement artist Jennifer Polins, writer Jay Keery Weingarten and sound artist Jake Meginsky. The series showcases the work of three artists in each performance, featuring MOVEMENT, WORDS, and MUSIC from local and international artists who share a pursuit of experimental improvisation and an intention to push their forms forward. HUT draws diverse audiences who love music, writing and dance, offering varied communities a chance to sit together and experience performance styles they might not have appreciated before. By juxtaposing different artistic genres and emphasizing experimentation, HUT creates a unique space for building a new sense of public engagement and appreciation for the arts.

HUT has featured over 250 artists in its 14 seasons, including well-known names such as Katy Pyle, Bill Nace, Shakia Barron, Caliph Ali, Chris Corsano, Joy Davis, Paul Flaherty, Jacob Fried, K.J. Holmes, Jaamil Olawale Kosoko, Matt Krefting, Jason Lesceleet, Jennifer Nugent, Cori Olinghouse, Andrea Pensado, Zach Rowden, Mariana Valencia, Laura Warman, Jasmine Hearn, Jeanine Durning, Liz Tonne, John Truscinski, Tori Lawrence, Miguel Castillo, and Tatyana Tenenbaum and many more! This list reflects the diversity and richness of talent that HUT has been able to bring to its audience over the years.
