Masala is a word used in South Asian cuisine to mostly describe a mixture of wonderful spices. Not unlike the mixture of the many spices in Indian cooking, Masala Jazz, a Leverett-based jazz group, is a mixture of several musicians and a fusion of musical expressions with a foundation in jazz and blues. Masala Jazz is a band of three creative musicians, each having a unique musical style playing a fusion of contemporary jazz, funk, blues, rock, country, tango, and beyond.
