Northampton Community Music Center Presents Two Benefit Events On November 7 and 16
- La Mimosa Collective and an Autumn Musical Feast -
In November, the Northampton Community Music Center will showcase two benefit concerts to keep access to music education at NCMC equitable. A portion of the proceeds of these events will support the NCMC Scholarship Fund, allowing every student to participate in the healing and expressive powers of music. Last year, the scholarship fund provided more than $70,000 in aid to more than 250 qualifying students. Since it was founded almost 40 years ago, the NCMC has never turned away any qualifying student for lack of funds!
On Friday, November 7, La Mimosa Collective will perform at 7 PM, at the Northampton Community Music Center, 139 South Street, Northampton, Massachusetts. With limited seating, reservations are required. For tickets ($15 per person, $12 students/seniors/CTC), please visit ncmc.net/mimosa or call (413) 585-0001. The mimosa flower is an international symbol of female empowerment; La Mimosa Collective is six women, who will perform works by Gustav Mahler, Maurice Ravel, Rebecca Clarke, and Jennifer Higdon.
And on Sunday, November 16 at 5 PM, NCMC’s annual Autumn Musical Feast will be offered at the Red Barn at 893 West Street in Amherst, Massachusetts. Nestled in the hills of Amherst, the historic Red Barn offers breath-taking mountain views. The evening will feature a scenic cocktail hour with a cash bar, followed by a delicious three-course meal catered by Seth Mias and a lively concert of traditional Balkan music, performed by Orkestar Banitsa. Guests may reserve their own table as a party of ten, or make a reservation as a smaller party and make some new friends. Tickets for the meal and concert are $125, and reservations may be made at ncmc.net/feast with a deadline of November 6.
Sponsors of these events include the Mass Cultural Council, Wright Builders Inc., Northeast Solar, bankESB, Davis Financial Group LLC, Greenfield Savings Bank, and UMass Five College Federal Credit Union.
