TapRoots is a force of nature in the community and world at large, bringing together people of all walks of life to move the body, mind and soul. Always wanting to engage and celebrate with his local community, Matthew King, lead composer and architect of TapRoots, wants to build on his ongoing message of cross-cultural community-arts based celebration, and broaden the area’s awareness and appreciation for the music, cultures, and spirit of the Caribbean and beyond. ”I am always looking for ways to bring together this beautiful and diverse community of ours, to celebrate each other, the cultures that we embody, our arts, this area, the land and life itself. I can think of no better people to do that with than my good friends in ReBelle and Bomba de Aqui, who share this mission and have been growing their presence in the Valley and beyond,” King said. “All of us are always looking for ways to celebrate our shared humanity, and find connections to each other through music and dance. It is what we humans have been doing for millenia, and what TapRoots does is to tap into the root of that shared ancient history to move the community forward so that we can meet the collective challenges of the future.”
