“Adventures of the Quantum Soup Surfer” soars into the Mead Art Museum

Astro-futurist artist JooYoung Choi’s exhibition moves a side character to the spotlight in a mission of self-discovery

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: AMHERST, MA (January 25, 2026)–On January 27th, the Mead Art Museum at Amherst College will debut “Adventures of the Quantum Soup Surfer,” a new exhibition by JooYoung Choi. Spanning large paintings, a video compilation, and soft sculpture, the exhibition traces Nina Blue's journey from supporting character to the Quantum Soup Surfer – a cosmic hero and thoughtful navigator. Choi's artwork blends autobiography, invention, and pop culture references. The exhibition reflects the continued evolution of the characters within the Cosmic Womb, a highly structured world created by Choi over a decade ago.
